Live storage racking

High storage capacity with a moving twist

Live storage racking has certain advantages over classic pallet racking. Pallet racking involves a definite loss of warehouse space due to the use of separate aisles between each double row of racks. If the need for storage capacity exceeds the capabilities of conventional pallet racking there are various alternatives.

Using flow racks you place the goods one after the other in depth per level, where different levels are placed above and next to each other. The fork truck does not have to drive in to the racks because the gravity fed roller tracks automatically move the goods to the other side of the system.

Because the fork truck does not need to enter the storage system the chance of damage to the racks is greatly reduced. As an added advantage, compared to drive-in racks, you can vary in products between levels, because each level is separately accessible.

Operation

Using a live storage rack the palletized goods are stored behind each other on roller beds. A forklift truck will be able to deposit the pallets on the different levels at the supply side of each storage channel. The pallets will automatically roll over the roller beds to the other side of the storage channel (the withdrawal side) due to gravity. On this side, a forklift can unload the pallets from the storage channel. An ingenious braking system will ensure that you can safely remove the first pallet from the storage channel and that pallets never collide at rapid speed. In theory, there is no limit to the number of pallets in depth or the number of storage channels next to each other. The height or the number of levels of storage for pallets above each other poses no problems for most applications.

The flow rack is designed to achieve a higher storage capacity than possible with conventional pallet racks. When storing goods, several pallets can be placed behind each other on the same level. This determines that live storage racks are mainly suitable for the storage of uniform pallets where several pallets of the same product must be stored.

Unlike a drive-in rack, the forklift does not have to enter the system. Levels can therefore be filled unevenly in depth. After all, individual levels are not affected by pallets stored at higher or lower levels. This has the additional advantage that levels above each other can be used for different references. Each level remains individually accessible at the withdrawal side, regardless of the number of pallets stored per level.

The flow rack can be adapted to your specific needs, in order to obtain maximum use of the available space in your warehouse.

Benefits

  • Dense system with maximum space utilization.
  • Fewer aisles needed between the racks and a higher storage capacity.
  • Lighting is only needed at the supply and withdrawal side. Eliminating lighting in the center of the system reduces your energy costs.
  • Efficient and time-saving storage system as a result of the automatic movement of the pallets.
  • Ideal for storing goods with high rotational speeds.
  • Every level within the same storage channel is accessible at any time.
  • Suitable for FIFO (First-In-First-Out) and LIFO (Last-In-First-Out) applications.
  • Suitable for different sizes of goods.
  • Safe and reliable system.
  • Reduces risk of damages due to forklifts not entering the racks.

Quality

CLN Racking’s technical team will advise you on the possibilities for your warehouse design and the realization of the design you have chosen. This involves a series of analyses, containing but not limited to storage requirement analysis, analysis of environmental factors, strength calculations and assembly processing. The design of the live storage racking will always be based on the European standards and FEM (European Materials Handling Federation) recommendations in force.

We meet the following design and production standards;

  • ISO 9001:2008
  • ISO 14001:2004
  • ISO 18001:2004
